“ A true gem. One of my favorite Madison spots, and has been for decades now. Time to show a little love, as I sit here enjoying the daily special - a corned beef hash pasty. I always order them whole, and never cut in half. Just how I like to roll. Give it a try! I still remember stopping here in high school and hee-hawing with Myles who was always the consummate restaurateur and host. He looked gruff - like a Cornish miner - but had a heart of gold. In the evenings, when he was shutting down, he’d carefully wrap the leftover pasties and leave them at the bus stop directly outside his shop. A lot of folks who were down on their luck congregated there and Myles, as a true Christian who I venture to guess actually read the Bible, went out of his way to give what he could to help them out. I’ll never forget that, the goodwill and values he demonstrated to his community. Later on when I worked as a bike messenger, and often found myself in immediate need of 2,000 or so calories, I would stop in to see Myles and order a Big Cheezy. Never cut in half, you’ll recall. And it always did the trick. I don’t know the name of the young man who bought or took over the place, but I do know that he’s almost always there working and that he seems to have changed very little about the business. Both of these are big thumbs up in my book. Here’s to decades more authentic (and pretty regularly creative) Cornish pasties at Teddywedgers on State St. ”
“ So goddamn good, me and my friends walk in (because it smells delicious) and the guy behind the counter says, "I overdid these ones a little so theyre whole for the price of a half." They looked perfect but that just shows how high of a standard they hold themselves to, the food was amazing and I now want to go back to Madison just to get food here again. 11/10 ”
“ I love Teddywedgers! I get a pasty pretty much every Friday at this point and I look forward to it every week. Southwest is my favorite, but I also love the Sweet Potato Veggie. Honestly, they're all really good, get them all. The staff is also really nice when I come in to order or pick-up ”
“ Delicious pastry that I discovered by accident. The service was super friendly and fast. I ordered a sausage pastry with hot sauce and found my new favorite fast food in the city. The pastry was still hot and delicious with its egg and cheese filling. This shop is a great spot for quick, tasty, and cheap food. Loved it and will be back! ”
“ This is a good spot! Small, simple, straightforward. Some good people working there. Good food and honestly a pretty good value especially with how everything seems to be getting expensive these days. A half-sized portion is plenty for me as a light breakfast on the go. Full-sized is more of a meal. ”
“ Teddywedgers is a special place. Each time I've visited has managed to be a little different in its own way. I went there just now and the man working asked me if I had any song recommendations, which I was happy to provide. When I got there he was hanging out with a couple customers drinking coffee and chatting. The people here really seem intent on making their little corner a place for community and more meaningful interaction than you would expect when you're looking to just grab a quick bite. If I ever leave Madison, it's one of the places I'll remember the most fondly. But even all that aside, their pasties are fantastic. At 6 for a half, you'll get more than enough food for one person and they have a delicious variety of options. I'm always tempted to get the B2 when I get off work in the morning. I've never been disappointed with the food or the good-natured people who work here. ”
“ Awesome walk-in, walk-out place to grab breakfast especially when it's cold outside!! Half a pasty will fill you up well, a full pasty can be held onto and warmed up well at home. The bacon pastry was a good option for someone less adventurous while the Spicy Traditional was a good, semi-spicy option. ”
“ I've never had a hand pie as good as this one, or done quite in the same way. It's so simple but executed so perfectly. This place really stuck with me, and I always make time for it whenever I'm in town. The chicken pot pie one is my favorite. ”
